Due to the late declaration of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme results, it seems most students have lost the chance of getting admission in the streams of their choice in state-run colleges. One of them is Vinati Kokal from Pune, who claimed that the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) ended the verification of documents, a criteria to register for the admission process, in an architecture college by June 29, while the IB results came out on July 5.

Her father Jay said, "In order to participate in the online admission process for higher education in architecture, my daughter approached the DTE for verification of documents with her predictive grades declared mid-June. But the DTE refused to accept that and insisted that she get the grades converted into percentage and come with proper documents. By the time she got her result from the IB board, the date of verification had gone. Now, for no fault of hers, she will lose a year, she won't get admission anywhere."

"The most important question to the administration department is that when it knows that the results come late, why can't students' predictive grades be accepted. Or, at least, extend the date. Why can't the DTE continue the verification process till schools complete their grade conversion process?" he asked.

Despite repeated attempts, DTE officials remained unavailable for comment.

Expert and chairperson of Members of International Schools Dr Kavita Aggarwal said, "The IB-DP becomes a challenge for students who wish to pursue their career in their own state because the mismatch in examination and result timing."
