It seems that the residents of Juhu are bracing themselves up for a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) crack down on waste segregation in the area. Led by BJP corporator Renu Hansraj, the residents are trying to raise awareness and educate house helps on the issue. Residents of Borivali, Malad, Goregaon, Bandra, and Malabar Hills have already begun segregating their waste.

Hansraj, along with the local citizen group Juhu Soul of the City, and citizens of Juhu's ward 69, has started working towards making the drive a success. With the co-operation of the Assistant Commissioner of K-West ward and Jyoti Mhapsekar of Stree Mukti Sangathan, the residents hope to put the system in place soon.

Commenting on the drive, Hansraj said, our team is working relentlessly towards making it a success. “Seminars will be conducted to sensitise people about hazardous wastes and the importance of waste segregation.”

Indrani Malkani, Managing Trustee, VCAN Trust, said, “The drive can only be successful if the civic body refuses to lift unsegregated garbage. People should use their civic sense and understand their responsibility towards the city.”
