A day after dna reported that the Maharashtra government had found 'bias' in the information commission's order on judicial inquiry on 26/11 call records, Vinita Kamte, widow of Ashok Kamte who died fighting the terrorists, said the state had failed in reaching out to the wives of slain officials.

"First, I should not have been fighting this. They (department / government) should have made sure that they call me, make me sit across the table and convince me about the questions I have about discrepancies in call records. I should not have been taking it to this level. It is duty of the department to convince us," said an aggrieved Vinita Kamte.

Kamte earlier stood by the information commission's order questioning why he would target anyone. "There are discrepancies only in the six minutes of the tape around the time when the officers (including Ashok Kamte) were shot," said Kamte.

She added, "I can understand if there is some mistake made by senior officers while handling the situation. That mistake can be understood but at least they should tell us. Had we not pursued, no one would have got to know of the discrepancies. There was no other option for us but to knock on the door of the existing system. The department is sending a wrong message to the force. People will say look at what happens to their wives when they are not around."

The information commissioner's order was termed 'bias' by a senior advocate. The state government had sought it before deciding to challenge the commission's order in the court.

The opinion of the advocate also stated that the information commissioner's order was 'targeting' Rakesh Maria, city police chief.
