Holi revelry turns ugly, tailor himself on woman, kills her

A 24-year-old tailor has been arrested by the police for allegedly forcing himself on a 35-year-old woman during Holi celebrations and slitting her throat to death after she resisted him.

The accused has been identified as Rakhal Mohkud, a resident of Ambarnath. On Thursday, he tried to force himself on a woman at her relative's residence when her husband and kids were away. The accused is a colleague of the victim's husband.

The police is investigating if the victim was in an illicit relation with the accused which later turned ugly as he slit her throat to death.

"The accused has confessed the crime and revealed that he was asking sexual favours from the deceased after Holi celebration and when she denied, he got aggressive and first slashed her face with the knife and later, slit her throat till she died, when neighbhours heard her screams,' said a police official.

"Later, the neighbhours tried to rush her to the hospital for treatment but she died before admission. We have arrested the accused," added the official.

"We have registered the case under section 302 (murder) and 452(house trespassing with preparation of crime) of the Indian Penal Code and produced him before court. The accused has been remanded into custody upto April1", said SD Jadhav, Investigating officer.
