After the HSC students scored well in their exams, a similar performance by the SSC students will mean that the they can dominate their CBSE counterparts this year in securing Class XI admissions by getting more merit rankings, says an English daily's report. Last year the 37 of the 100 merit ranks were bagged by CBSE students.

While CBSE and SSC board students go head to head every year, the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme helps CBSE students make it to the merit list. This year the SSC board exam paper correction have been liberal and it is being speculated that state board students may lead the way in making it to the merit list.

Education official involved with Common Admission Process (CAP) said in the report said that 37 students coming on the merit list last year was prejudicial and that state board students should get priority in college admissions. However it is only via the Mantralaya that any quota can be made for the students.

However the argument over which board exam makes it easier for securing the merit rank continues. CBSE student claim that the state board has easier question making the students get good marks while SSC board students respond to the 'liberal checking' saying that the state board is as strict as any other boards.

CAP Committee chairperson Sanjay Charalwar maintains that he does not take any sides, but said that the SSC board paper corrections are stricter and that students have lost out on seats before.
