The state government assured the Bombay High Court on Friday that proper implementation of noise pollution rules will commence from Christmas onwards.

A division bench of justices Abhay Oka and Anuja Prabhudessai was informed by the government that of the 1,853 decibel metres required, it has procured 1,722 decibel metres so far. The remaining is expected to be procured before December 30.

The court was also told that during the Ganesh festival in Kolhapur, mandals did not have DJs on the request of the police. The government may also prohibit pressure horns in vehicles.

However, the court was of the view that even if the required decibel metres are procured, implementation will only begin next year as officers require training.
