Four days after Shiv Sena leader from Badlapur was hacked to death, the police have arrested four persons on the charges of murder. They will be produced in court on Wednesday.

A police official from Badlapur said, "The accused attacked Sena leader Keshav Mohite with swords. He was half conscious when taken to the hospital and revealed the name of the accused before being admitted to the hospital. With the help of that information we arrested the accused."

The main accused – Rajendra Baliram Lad – was given a supari [contract killing] of Rs50,000 to kill Mohite. He asked two of his friends to help him bump off the Sena leader. We suspect the murder was politically motivated as the Badlapur Kulgaon Municipal Corporation elections are slated for April 22."

On April 4, Mohite, also the rickshaw union member, was attacked by three people with some sharp weapons, leaving him bleeding profusely. The accused, who were travelling as co-passengers with Mohite in the auto, had boarded the vehicle from Badlapur railway station and were heading towards MIDC Kharwai.
