Siddhi Parab, 15, the daughter of a BEST bus conductor, has given her father Sunil hopes of a better future, by doing well in her SSC board exams. She scored 96.8% in the exams held earlier this year.
Siddhi, a Vikhroli resident, has two sisters. The elder studies in the Commerce stream and the younger one is in Standard 6. Siddhi's mother is a housewife, who was working in the private sector before she gave birth to her third child.
Speaking about her study schedule, Siddhi said, "I would get up by 7am and start studying at 8am. I would wind up my studies by 10am and get ready for school, which opened at 12pm. My school would get over by 6pm. I never left a chance to study hard in school, as well as in my tuition classes. After coming home from school, I would immediately get ready for coaching class, and leave home at 6.15pm."
At school, Siddhi had always secured the first rank from Standard 8 onwards. She gives due credit to her teachers and parents for inspiring her to work hard. Without them, she says, she would not have been successful.
"I remember that I would call my school teachers even at night and early in the morning to address my study-related doubts. And they always cleared my doubts whenever I called them. In fact, my class teacher would usually call my mother early in the morning to check if I had woken up to study for my board examinations. She is another inspirational person in my life."
She is now considering her career options. She said, "Sometimes I feel I should opt for the Commerce stream, because I don't know if I can arrange the funds for an MBBS course. I want to be a doctor, and so I have decided to take Science at least till HSC. My father has always assured me that he would help me in pursuing my career."
Siddhi has scored 99 marks out of 100 in Social Science and 98 in Sanskrit. She wanted to get more than 98% overall, but feels that she lost a few marks because she was not able to score what she wanted in these two subjects.
