Five injured in fire at fish market in Fort

On Thursday morning, a fire broke in the fish market on Modi street in Fort. Three people were severely injured. The victims, who got burn injuries, were taken for treatment to St George hospital near CST.

The fire broke at 9 am on Thursday after a stove burst in a shop at the fish market and the fumes spread through the electric wiring and garments lying in the shop. Total five people got burn injuries. The victims Dharmendra Uttam (20), Rameshkumar Yadav (30) and Dharmendra Yadav (30) suffered 60% burns, got 44% burns and 27% burns respectively.

All three victims are treated in St George hospital while the other two victims, Rajesh Shambu (30) and Ram Yadav (30) were discharged from the hospital after required medical treatment.

The cause of the fire is still not known, BMC fire officials said.
