As many as eight companies have shown interest in constructing the first phase of Metro-2B between DN Nagar and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). These companies will have to construct viaducts connecting the 11 Metro stations between DN Nagar and BKC.

These eight companies - that have submitted their technical and financial bids for the Rs 900 crore for the first phase of Metro-2B - include J Kumar Infrastructure, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Simplex, IL & FS, CHEC-Tata Project Limited (joint venture), SEL-SPSCPL Joint Venture (Sadhbhav) and JMC Projects.

UPS Madan, Metropolitan Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), said, "We have received a good response with eight companies showing interest for civil construction of Metro-2B between DN Nagar and BKC. The lowest bidder will now be awarded the work after approval from MMRDA's executive committee."

Madan, added, "Currently we are also in the process of purchasing rolling stocks (coaches) for the Metro-2B, Dahisar East – Andheri East Metro-7 and Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor."

Earlier the MMRDA had tendered the whole corridor between DN Nagar and Mandale but later scrapped the bids and divided the project into two phases owing to bidders quoting more than the estimated price.

The civil construction cost of the 23.6-km-long Metro-2B estimated by MMRDA was around Rs 19,00 crore. However, the bidders shortlisted by MMRDA had quoted Rs 2,293 crore for civil construction on four packages of the alignment between DN Nagar and Mandale. However, the bids were scrapped later.
