Homebuyers in the controversial DSK projects in Pune believe that the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) is their last hope and are praying to the authority to take over the project and give it to a competent developer who will be able to finish it.

In February, just a few days before the DSK group officials were arrested, the authorised signatory Hemanti Kulkarni had put on record a notarised affidavit cum undertaking stating that she would register sale agreements and even hand over possession of few complaints by December 2018 with a grace period of six months.

Nearly half a dozen complaints against DSK are with MahaRERA that are being heard and orders have been passed in some. In one such order a homebuyer Mohit Poddar had complained that he was allotted a 1 BHK in the E wing of a building known as DSK Anandghan. He had paid 90 per cent of the total amount, was issued an allotment letter in April 2017 and promised possession by June 2017 but no possession has been given or sale agreement registered to date.

There are many similar complaints filed with MahaRERA and in some cases homebuyers have alleged paying up to 100 per cent of the total amount too. However, homebuyers aren't sure whether they will get the possession of their flats. Santosh Honkarpe, the man who complained to EOW against DSK, said, "Our last hope is MahaRERA. My complaint over there will soon be up for hearing. We have prayed that the authority take over the project and give it to a competent developer who shall complete it. There are nearly 1,000 flats and nearly 400 homebuyers who have paid up to 100 per cent of their flat cost. We are hoping MahaRERA will take stringent action and help us."
