Dombivli man arrested for raping step-daughter 12 times

A 15-year-old girl in a village near Dombivli was raped on 12 occasions in the past year by her stepfather, she told the Dombivli police station on Thursday. The rapist has been placed under arrest.

He was booked under section 376 (punishment for rape), 506 and several sections of The Prevention Of Children From Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO).

The victim said the accused, who works in a printing press in Mulund, had got married to the victim's mother a few years ago. Whenever he was at home, the accused would stare at the victim in a way that made her uncomfortable. The accused also blackmailed the victim, saying that he would expose the fact that she was having an affair with a local boy. The accused thus forced her to have a physical relationship with her, saying that if she refused to comply, he would kill her and her boyfriend, her brother and mother as well.

N Mudgun, a police officer from the Dombivli police station, said, "We have arrested the accused and he is behind bars. He is the victim's stepfather. He has been raping the girl for the past year. We have sent both for a medical test. Its reports are awaited. Further investigation is on."
