The Maharashtra government is set to organise a first of its kind job fair called "Maharojgar Melawa" on May 29 with a target to reach out to 10,000 unemployed youths in Amravati district.

The objective of this job fair would be to ensure that all young boys and girls who attend it would not step out empty-handed but either with a job offer or with a gateway pass to undergo skill training in the trade found appropriate for them during the job fair counseling sessions.

As per the details, any youth who has completed 18 years of age and is minimum Std VIII pass can participate in this fair. However, those having professional qualifications like an ITI diploma/any other diploma or vocational training course are also eligible.

"This is the first time that a unique and well-planned job fair is being held at the administrative division of Amravati with a motto to spread awareness regarding various schemes and initiatives of various departments like skill development and entrepreneurship, minority, tribal, women and child etc," said a senior officer of Skill development department which is the main organizer.

Sources shared that as a first step towards organizing the fair, the divisional commissioners were asked to compile a data base of all skill development initiatives at the district level. Also, another database has been complied to check number of employable/skilled but unemployed youths of the district. Further on the analysis of this data the department is in process of inviting industry partners for placement drive Inviting large scale operating Vocational Training Providers (VTP)s to offer skill development training to those who have failed to get a job offer letter.

All area MLAs and MLCs have been asked to help in mobilisation of the candidates with the help of NGOs.

First of its kind Job Fair will be a three step event:

First: Employers will interview all skilled/semi-skilled/employable youth and give "Green Offer Letters" to selected candidates. Monthly salary is set to be minimum Rs9,000.
Step two: Those who wont get the green offer letter would be counseled by experts, analyzed and given a "Pink Gateway Entry Pass" for help them get Vocational Training Providers would give offer letters for free of cost skill training.
Step three: Vocational training Providers will issue them an orange welcome offer letter to join the skill training programme appropriate for them.
