A 47-year-old Andheri-based businessman, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) last week, has written an application to the special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) court pleading for his life. The accused claims that if he is not provided with the necessary medications on immediate basis, he fears that he might end up losing his life.

According to the application, Jayantilal Kothari, is suffering from a number of ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems and kidney failure. Due to kidney failure, he needs to undergo blood dialysis, which he was taking in a hospital in Khar, thrice a week.

His application reads: "The court sent him to judicial custody on August 19 along with an order which directed the jail authorities to take the accused for dialysis after seeking the opinion of the doctor. But from the day of judicial custody till date, the jail authorities have neglected the procedure. When the family of the accused approached the jail, the authorities claimed that they need detailed orders from the court, which would mention the minute details as to which doctor would conduct the treatment."

Sources claimed that the court has asked the jail authorities to send their reply on the application filed by the accused.
