Depressed over irregular menstrual cycle girl hangs self

A 20-year-old girl committed suicide as she was depressed over her irregular menstrual cycle since three years. She hanged herself on January 24 afternoon when she was alone at home in Ambernath east.

Reportedly on the day of the incident, her parents had gone to Ulhasnagar and upon returning they saw her hanging from ceiling.

Dr Shailesh Umate, a psychiatrist said, "The girl might be suffering from physical illness which led to depression and so she took this drastic step. She should have discussed the problem with her family and got herself check at government hospital."

An official said, "We came to know about the reason behind her suicide from her neighbours. Later upon questioning, her mother confirmed the reason."
