Cops identify source of fake news article against Pankaja Munde

The Cuffe Parade police have identified the person who they suspect was instrumental in posting a defamatory news article attacking BJP leader and Minister of Rural Development Pankaja Munde.

Earlier this month, the Cuffe Parade police on the complaint of Water Conservation Minister Ram Shinde had registered a case against an unknown person for allegedly posting a morphed news article on Facebook, supposedly from a Marathi newspaper, which targeted Munde and went viral on social media.

The purported news article stated that Shinde had criticised Munde and made several allegations and defamatory remarks. The article was aimed to create a conflict between supporters of both leaders.

A probe revealed that the said fake article was posted by Beed-based BJP party worker Dadasaheb Munde.
