The Amboli police busted a Mephedrone manufacturing factory by arresting three persons, who were mass producing the drug from a house in Dahanu, on Friday night. The police have seized machines and chemicals worth Rs 41 lakh as well as 900 grams of mephedrone or meow meow worth Rs 18 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Sanyal Bane, Anwar Choudhary and Sultan Abdul Rauf. According to the police, the raid was conducted after 27-year-old, Nadeem Shaikh, was arrested on August 21 from Andheri with 1 kg of meow meow worth Rs 20 lakh. While interrogating him it was revealed that the accused would get his consignment from a Dahanu factory and was used to supply it to Mumbai and other neighbouring states. The police then laid the trap and the factory was raided on Friday.

"We have found chemicals, reactors and some other equipment required for the production of MD. It was a house where the three accused would manufacture MD and supply it to Mumbai and the neighbouring states," said Bharat Gaikwad, Senior Police Inspector of Amboli police Station.

"One of them is a science graduate and is well versed with the knowledge of chemicals. Our probe is on to ascertain if they had any more accomplices," Gaikwad added.
