In a meeting held with their local corporator on Saturday, a section of Colaba residents have demanded CCTVs, removal of encroachments and better tiles on footpaths among various other demands. The demands were made by Clean Heritage Colaba Residents' Association (CHCRA) to Shiv Sena corporator Sujata Sanap.

"We have asked for CCTVs because of the issue of violation of traffic rules and encroachment in the area," said Subhash Motwani, president, CHCRA. The other demands include the removal of no entry on Sundays on the road near Regal Cinema that leads to Gateway of India as it leads to traffic jams, clean up wardens, replacing paver blocks with tiles so that they do not sink, address issue of double parking, installation of sign boards, pruning of trees, and better lighting in the area.

"When we complain, the officers are so indifferent that they do not take any action. When we asked the corporator, they finally towed away a vehicle that was parked in the area for over eight days," said Motwani.

"With respect to pruning of trees, installation of sign boards and road work, I will be doing that with my fund. I have also arranged for a meeting with officers on Thursday. Since the road on which the residents want CCTVs is an inside and residential road, the CCTV from my fund will not be possible. I can help them if they want to fund it on their own," said Sanap.
