CM Devendra Fadnavis puts MIHAN on fast track

Removing the hurdles in availing subsidised power supply for industries on a regular and uninterrupted basis, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday announced that he will give the highest priority to complete the MIHAN (Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur) project. He announced that all proposals of this project will be cleared immediately and no proposal will be kept pending for technical reasons.

Fadnavis held a review meeting of MIHAN, the biggest economical development project currently undertaken in India. MLA Chandrashekhar Bavankule, additional chief secretary Dr PS Meena, additional chief secretary (power) Ajey Mehta, principal secretary (finance( and guardian secretary for the Nagpur district Sudhir Srivastava, MIHAN vice president and managing director Tanaji Satre, personal secretary to CM Praveen Darade, divisional commissioner Anup Kumar, Nagpur municipal corporation commissioner Shyam Vardhane, collector Abhishek Krishna, MIHAN chief engineer SV Chahande and their officials were present for the meeting.

He instructed the officials to speed up the process of removing the hurdles in this project and said Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) Ltd should go for a joint venture with power utility MSEDCL, so that power can be made available to industries in the project at Rs4-4.30 per unit. He also said that since MADC has power generation licence in its name, it can purchase power from MSEDCL and provide it to industries in MIHAN project. Additional chief secretary (power) and MADC managing director okayed this proposal during the meeting.

Fadnavis also told MADC officials to appoint special officers for addressing the problems faced by investors so that industries can immediately invest in various projects in MIHAN. He asked the officials to prepare a detailed time-bound programme for ensuring that MIHAN project becomes functional with full capacity and raises investment by providing facilities to investors.

Land acquisition issues
The CM has instructed the officials to prepare a proposal for handing over of land earmarked for acquisition for the international airport and that which falls under the shrubs category of forest land.

Rehabilitation
Fadnavis said not a single (affected) family will be excluded from rehabilitation. He instructed MADC officials to prepare a fresh proposal taking into account the demand of increased land and funds by the project-affected people. He also instructed officials to start an industrial technical training institute so that local youth can get training and employment in the projects.
