The event management firm that was sent a notice for explanation by Western Railway over film actor Anil Kapoor leaning out of a running local train during a promo shoot earlier this month has replied to it.

The Market Men Consumer Connect & Events, a Mumbai-based firm, has told WR officials in a letter that it was 'childhood memories' that made Kapoor lean out of the running train. It was more emotional than intentional, the firm said in its letter.

WR authorities told dna: “The production house Market Men Consumer Connect & Events Pvt ltd has apologised, stating that the act by Mr Anil Kapoor was emotional not intentional, as he was trying to relive his childhood experiences, but had realised his folly.”

WR officials said that the production house will request Anil Kapoor to contribute to social awareness and safety initiatives taken by WR. However WR officials said that no time-frame had been finalised or programme had been zeroed in for Kapoor to participate.

As highlighted by DNA earlier, Kapoor was shooting a promotional feature on a local train on July 14 for his television series. As the train pulled out of Churchgate, the assembled media photographed and video-graphed an animated Kapoor standing on the footboard of the train, his upper body leaning out of the door, waving at trains passing in the opposite direction.

Section 156 of Railway Act, 1989
