Cricket commentator and sports entrepreneur Charu Sharma was summoned to the Bhoiwada police station on Tuesday to record his statement in connection with the 'Pro-Kabbadi Leauge' (PKL) case. An engineer from the city had last year filed a complaint with the Bhoiwada police alleging that the format of PKL was his brainchild and that industrialist Anand Mahindra, Charu Sharma and ad-man Piyush Pandey had hijacked his idea.

Sharma, who happens to be one of the directors of 'Mashal Sports' under whose banner PKL is conducted, was on Tuesday called to the police station. "We are investigating the case and Sharma was called to record his statement as he is named as one of the accused persons," said deputy commissioner of police (Zone IV) Ashok Dudhe. "As the investigation goes forward and if we find the need to record more statements, we will do so," he added.

When contacted, Sharma said, "I received a call from the police on Monday asking me to come to the police station. Being a law abiding citizen, I flew to Mumbai and met the cops. They were very polite and recorded certain things that they wanted to know from me in connection with the case. I gave them all the details that was available with me."
