Sai Dham Lake in Charkop, Kandivali (W), continues to be in a sorry state despite residents around it trying to take up the issue with the civic bodies. The residents around the lake have been complaining that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has failed to maintain the lake for the last two years.
Moreover, as the lake shares its border with Charkop and Gorai areas, the ward corporators continue to play the blame game and refuse to take the responsibility for its current condition. The residents speaking with iamin said that they have made endless efforts till this date to save the lake, which is being polluted by dumping the waste material.
Shiva Shetty, corporator, Gorai, talking to iamin said that the lake was his responsibility only until 2009. However, after delimitation of wards, Charkop corporator is responsible for the lake.
Meanwhile, Srikant Kaothankar, corporator, Charkop, said that there has been a confusion about the person responsible to the lake’s maintenance. “I will look into the matter at the earliest,” Kaothankar assured.
