TV actress Loveleen Kaur Sasan for the second time became the target of theft, after the Chaddi Baniyan gang allegedly broke into her flat in a posh Mira Road complex and decamped with cash and ornaments worth more than Rs5 lakh early on Thursday. The 25-year-old was visiting her aunt in Andheri to celebrate the latter's birthday when the incident happened.

In 2013, Sasan had been targeted by three youths in Oshiwara when she was in an autorickshaw with a friend. They had tried to snatch her purse, but she and her friend had managed to fight them off and even nab two of them and hand them over to the police.

Thursday's incident took place in Regal Arcade of Poonam Sagar Complex. Three Chaddi Baniyan gang members were captured on the CCTV camera installed on the premises; they were seen latching the doors of the neighbouring flats. After ransacking Sasan's flat, when the gang members were running away, the watchman tried to stop them, but they assaulted him, leading to him sustaining severe injuries.

"I was away at my aunt's residence in Lokhandwala to celebrate her birthday when, around 4.30am, my neighbours called me up to inform me about the theft at my place. I have filed a police complaint," said Sasan.

One of the residents of Regal Arcade, Anil Sharma, said, "As soon as we heard the watchman's cries, I and a few other residents rushed down. We took him to the hospital. We also saw that the flats on Loveleen Kaur's floor had been latched from the outside to stop the neighbours from coming out and foiling the robbery."

"We have registered a case under section 457 (house breaking to commit theft), 394 (robbery) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code. Prima facie, it seems that four people were involved in the theft and are suspected to be from the Chaddi Baniyan gang," said Bhairav Jadhav, inspector, Nayanagar police station.

Sasan has worked in Saath Nibhaana Sathiya and various other TV soaps.
