Central Railway arranges trains for Yemen evacuees

Central Railway on Thursday made special provisions to get the people who had just been evacuated from strife-torn Yemen by arranging trains to take them to different parts of the country after they arrived in Mumbai late last night.

Central Railway on Thursday made special provisions to get the people who had just been evacuated from strife-torn Yemen by arranging trains to take them to different parts of the country after they arrived in Mumbai late last night.  

Sunil Kumar Sood, General Manager, Central & Western Railway received the Yemen evacuees at the Mumbai International Airport in the wee hours of Thursday. "As directed by Suresh P Prabhu, Minister of Railways, the evacuees were guided to the felicitation and ticketing counter opened specially for them at the airport and their tickets were confirmed by Central & Western Railways as per their destination like Gorakhpur, Thiruvananthapuram, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Madurai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanyakumari, etc. Later they were shifted to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai in buses" said a Central Railway statement.

At the railway stations they were settled in waiting rooms and provided with breakfast and water. Total 75 persons were accommodated in trains.  Amitabh Ojha, Divisional Railway Manager Mumbai Division and other senior railway officials were present at the airport and railway stations.
