CCTV in DCP office works as per his wish: Public Information Officer

In a reply that left an applicant stunned, a public information officer informed that the CCTV of the office of DCP works as per his requirements. The reply was given to the applicant by public information officer (administration) of Thane police related to footage of DCP (headquarter -1). 

The applicant had sought CCTV footage of the first appeal hearing he had attended. “It so happens that most the first appellate authority do not listen to what we say. I had a hearing with the concerned DCP. Hence I had sought the CCTV footage. They have not provided it to me. As per the DGP’s order, CCTVs were put to ensure that officers do work of citizens,” said Kailash Avhad, the applicant in the case. 

“It is strange that CCTV cameras work as per whims and fancies of the officers. If they work as per convenience of officers, chances are that they will be switched off when there is corruption” asked Shailesh Gandhi, ex-central information commissioner.
