Two brothers, in their twenties, died after their bike collided with an Indica car near Kohinoor Mall in Kurla West on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Muzamil Sheikh, 21, and Muzafir Sheikh, 24. They were residents of Teacher's colony in Kurla (west).
While the police are yet to ascertain who was riding the two-wheeler, they suspect it was moving fairly fast as the brothers were tossed in the air after the collision and landed some distance from the spot.
"Following the accident, the two injured bikers were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, while the man who was driving the Indica was nabbed by passersby and handed over to the police," said an officer from VB Nagar police station.
The officer said Muzafir and Muzamil succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. "We are not sure who was riding the bike as both were flung after the bike hit the car."
The police arrested the car's driver, identified as 32-year-old Rakesh Kubal and sent him for a medical test. "The report has confirmed that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the mishap. He was produced before the court which granted him bail," said the officer.
