In Andheri (west), a garden in Lallubhai Park and an open gymnasium in Raheja garden will be re-done. In Dadar, Parel and Matunga, a total of five gardens and playgrounds and in Dahisar two gardens will be given a new look following repairs and renovation.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to give a fresh new look to gardens and playgrounds in the city. BMC will also construct a new football ground in Malad (west).
The civic body will uplift gardens in Dadar, Parel, Matunga, Andheri and Dahisar at the cost of Rs15 crore. The football ground, which is a pet project of Yuva Sena president Aditya Thackeray, will come up near D Mart on Linking Road in Malad (west) at a cost of Rs3 crore.

Aditya Thackeray had expressed his wish to promote sports in the city and give youngsters more and more playgrounds so that they can get the opportunity to practise and excel in different sports. He had asked the corporators and senior leaders in BMC to take up the issue seriously and make the civic administration work to achieve the target.
The allocation of funds for playgrounds and gardens was done in the civic budget. After two months of this allocation, BMC had come up with proposals of renovation and repairs in the gardens and also constructing a football ground.
All the gardens will have compound walls, walking tracks, drinking water facilities, fountains, decorative light poles and benches. The proposal for renovation of the gardens and playgrounds will be tabled in this week's Standing Committee meeting.
