BKC to soon see an iconic finance dedicated building: Devendra Fadnavis

In a month's time, report on having an iconic building for International Financial Services Centre in business district of Bandra Kurla Complex will be ready and foundation stone laying ceremony may soon follow.

At a function at the business district on Wednesday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "Soon we will lay foundation for an iconic building in Bandra Kurla Complex."

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has tied up with CBRE Group for consultancy service for the project. "In a month's time we expect the report on International Financial Services Centre to be submitted to us wherein various possibilities are being explored," said Metropolitan Commissioner of the development authority UPS Madan.

The idea is to have an iconic building that will be completely dedicated to financial services industry or those involved with finance related activities. The consultant will detail about the total land area required for the project and the concept plan. Based on the demand, appropriate space will be created to truly make Bandra Kurla Complex a hub of finance and business activity of India.

MMRDA officials are still unsure if the proposed building will cross 100 metres due to height restriction by Ministry of Civil Aviation. At the moment, the maximum height for construction in Bandra Kurla Complex is 89 metres but MMRDA wants it to be 100 metres in order to optimise the utilisation of the buildable area by using Floor Space Index of 4.

Irrespective of the relaxation, the focus would be to have an iconic structure.
