BJP MLA Amit Satam on Wednesday demanded an inquiry by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) into the alleged Rs 50,000 crore scam in the building permissions department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Speaking on the department-wise discussion on the state budget, Satam said that there was nexus between the builder mafia and the officers in BMC. He said that the officers of slum rehabilitation authority and development plan departments in BMC have a nexus with corporators and builders which has resulted in a scam worth Rs. 50,000 crore.
Satam said that the reservations for playgrounds or open spaces have been converted into residential zones for the benefit of builders. He said that he has provided detailed information of 40 files along with all other details to a committee appointed for inquiry and since nothing has happened in last 9 months, there is a need to hand over this issue to the ACB.
BJP MLA Ashish Shelar demanded providing 4 FSI (Floor Space Index) for the residents of various parts of Mumbai who are falling in the Metro Zone. He pointed out that there has been a decision to provide in-citu rehabilitation of residents of Girgaum while providing Metro for the Girgaumkars. On the same lines, Shelar demanded providing 4 FSI for other areas of Mumbai which are falling in Metro routes.
BJP MLA from Pune, Shivajinagar Vijay Kale, pointed out that a file was pending for remark of the law and judiciary department for more than a year and questioned as to how the government can convince people that its delivery mechanism is efficient. He informed that the file was pertaining to providing civic amenities by municipal corporation to residents of Cantonment areas in Pune for which Union Government has already arrived at such a decision. Kale asked that if at all file is pending for more than a year for one remark, how can one convince people that the government and administration are efficient and swift in its decisions and actions.
