The Marine Drive police on Sunday arrested three youths for allegedly harassing three women at Girgaum Chowpatty on Thursday at around 5.30 am.

The accused have been identified as Prem Nikalje, Jagmohan Okhiya and Vikas Chourasiya, all 21-year-old residents of Chembur.

According to the police, the arrested accused had gone to Girgaum Chowpatty on their bikes in the wees hours of Thursday along with two more friends. The police said that the five bike-borne youths allegedly started passing lewd comments at three women who were walking on Mafatlal Bath road near a signal. They rode the bike around them and one of the accused even asked the women to share their contact numbers with them. An onlooker's intervention led the accused to flee the spot immediately. The intervening man informed the main police control room following which the police checked the area's CCTV footage and registered a case.

"We found the registration numbers of the bikes from the CCTV footage. We registered a case and arrested the three accused," said a police officer from Marine Drive police station. "They have been booked for molestation and rash driving under relevant sections of the Indian penal code," he added.
