The bidding process for the construction of a Metro corridor in Mira-Road and Bhayander connecting with Dahisar is expected to start in another two months. With this the vehicular movement entering or exiting the city via Dahisar check-naka might experience traffic snarls.

The 9-km-long Dahisar check-naka Bhayander Metro corridor known as Metro-10 is being constructed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) at an estimated cost of Rs 3,600 crore.

A MMRDA official, said, "We have already started with the bidding process for appointing a project management consultant for the Metro-10 corridor and the bidding process for the civil construction will also start after the detailed project report (DPR) is approved by the MMRDA followed by the state cabinet in couple of months."

There are plans to interconnect this Metro with two Metro lines namely the Dahisar East- Andheri East Metro-7 corridor and Dahisar- DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor somewhere at the Western Express Highway (WEH) near Dahisar check-naka.

With this there might also be some inconvenience when it comes to traffic at Dahisar check-naka. The MMRDA official added, " For that we are working on plans to have additional slots for toll collection booths by acquiring land from BMC that was used for octroi naka. This will solve problem of traffic if additional slots for toll collection is made available."

However, there is also controversy involved in the naming of Metro stations for the Metro-10 corridor as the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has in December 2017 passed an resolution to have Metro stations after social leaders like Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maharana Pratap and Mahavir Swami. But the final call will be taken by the state government for naming of the Metro stations.

Meanwhile, MMRDA on Wednesday also announced that Pravin Darade, Addtional Metropolitan Commissioner also reviewed several Metro corridors including Metro-7 and Metro-2A along with Metro-4 connecting Wadala with Thane.
