Even after the University of Mumbai finally declared the results of third-year BCom finals on Sunday, students have been unable to access their results, as the university website was down, and remained so at the time of going to press.

The University on Sunday declared results of 65,992 out of 80,000 students who had appeared for the exams. Results of the remaining students were 'held in reserve'.

The University website was down due to poor internet connectivity at the varsity's Kalina campus, according to officials. "We are trying to resolve the issue by Monday night," an official from the university had said.

Angry students took to social media after they were unable to see their results. "MU is so pathetic, if you don't have the technology why ridicule yourself to this extent," a student said on twitter.

"The University is making a joke out of the whole thing. The website is not loading after the results have been declared four months after the exams. Some students who managed to log in were disappointed to see that their results were held in reserve," said Suhani Sinha, a BCom student.

Long wait for IDOL students

As per the figures received from the University, close to 60,000 answer sheets of various distance education courses are yet to be assessed. Of 1,00,698 answer sheets yet to be evaluated, 56,803 belong to the Commerce stream in distance education, which includes courses like BCom and MCom. After missing several deadlines for result declaration the University has now 'prioritised' results of regular students to speed up the process.

With close to 60 thousand answer sheets yet to be evcaluated, students opting for distance education are left in a lurch. "Most students opting for the distance mode are working students. Results are equally important for them as they are for regular students in their jobs and higher education. Why is the university giving secondary treatment to us?" asked Rasik Mehta, a commerce student.
