Bandra molestation: DCP to probe victim's claims

The Mumbai police have initiated an inquiry in to the allegation made by the Bandra molestation victim that she was made to run around three police station before her complaint was finally registered at Bandra police station. The victim also alleged that the policemen at the police station also commented on her dress and were eager to know details of the incident.

Mumbai police taking into the consideration the allegation made by molestation victim have asked a Deputy Commissioner of police rank officer to conduct a thorough inquiry into the claims made by the victim. The victim reportedly stated that she and her boyfriend were made to run between four police station before her FIR being registered at Bandra police station. The victim claimed that she and her boyfriend after the incident on Sunday early morning first approached the Sion police station, which guided them to Dharavi and Shahu Nagar police station and from there was sent to Bandra police station. The victim also alleged that at all the police stations she was asked to repeat her ordeal explaining minute details of the incident. " We have taken the allegation made by the victim very seriously and DCP Mahesh Patil will be carrying out an enquiry in to the allegation and if found to be true then appropriate action will be taken against the officials", said DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni, spokesperson Mumbai police.

The victim reportedly also alleged that the policemen instead of taking down her complaint, commented on her clothes and also enquired what she and her boyfriend were doing at the crime spot so late at night. " Mumbai police is very sensitive towards crime against women and no policemen should comment on any women dressing or quiz her when she comes to register a complaint," said DCP Kulkarni.
