On the pretext of doing a check-up, a 37-year-old BAMS doctor, allegedly molested his 14-year-old patient.

The girl, who has appeared for class IX exam, had complained of stomach pain and asthama, so her family rushed her Ayush hospital. The doctor tried to molest her in the ICU ward. He was arrested after the girl's family registered a complaint with Nizampura police.

The accused – Dhirendra Vijay Yadav – is a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) and stays in Bhiwandi. He is married and has a 12-year-old child; he was produced in court and will remain in custody for three days.

The incident took place on Friday between 2.30pm and 4pm in Kombhadpada. The victim is stays in the same area. According to the complaint, the girl's family took her to Ayush hospital, which is a few metre away from their home. Since she was admitted in the ICU, the hospital staff did not allow them inside the ward.

"The girl mentioned that the accused came close to her and asked her if she had physical relationship with anyone. When the girl denied, he told her that if she had sex, she would feel better. Later, the doctor applied some gel on his fingers and rubbed it on her private parts, so she started screaming and calling her parents," said an officer.

A case has been registered under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of The Prevention Of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

SD Langhe, senior inspector from Nizampura police station, said, "The accused was produced in court and will remain in custody. When we spoke to the girl, she revealed that the accused tried to molest her after applying some medicine. We will now interrogate the accused."
