While the stretch on Malad link road can pride itself for being a shoppers and foodies delight, the long perennial crawling traffic from Mindspace junction to Mith Chowky ends up leaving the commuters cringing.

"It's a nightmare to travel on this stretch as one can find all sorts of traffic violations here, which end up slowing down traffic movement. Autorickshaw drivers keep cutting lanes to pick passengers from malls and restaurants and some even wait outside these establishments creating bottlenecks," said Naman Shah, Kandivali resident, adding that the Metro barricades have only further aggravated the issue.

Sanjay Rane, resident of Vikas Park complex near Mith Chowky junction said the stretch from Inorbit mall junction to his house should not take more than 10 to 15 minutes but at times, he ends up spending more than 30 minutes.

"The bottleneck is formed in patches on this stretch that holds up traffic mostly due to vehicles parked outside some of the establishments or vehicles trying to enter or exit from them. The situation gets worse, especially during weekend evenings," he said, adding, "The traffic department should ensure zero tolerance towards auto drivers lining up on the link road who are a nuisance as they double park," shared Rane.

Meanwhile, traffic police officials complained that traffic movement on this stretch was affected more so due to Metro barricades that have taken up a sizable portion of road.

"Our staff is placed at crucial spots to ensure smooth traffic movement," said a Malad traffic official.
