The war of words between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally Shiv Sena has managed to evoke response from BJP national president Amit Shah.

On Tuesday, Shah is believed to have expressed his anguish over the recent incidents after which state BJP decided to reply in a befitting manner to Sena.

BJP state unit president Raosaheb Danve held a high level meeting at party's Nariman Point office after Shah expressed his anguish. Party insiders told dna that Shah was unhappy especially over the fact that his photographs are used during demonstrations by Shiv Sena at various cities.

"Shah was angry with the demonstrations held by Shiv Sena at Churchgate on Tuesday which were shown on various channels. Sena workers had also displayed pictures of Shah on their placards and burnt the effigy of BJP Mumbai city president Ashish Shelar," said the insider, adding an action plan for Uddhav Thackeray's programme on Wednesday was also decided at the meeting.

It was after Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, who in Aurangabad, had said that the BJP government is worse than Nizam. In reply to this, BJP state unit chief spokesperson Madhav Bhandari through his article in fortnightly Manogat, the BJP state unit's mouth piece, had referred to Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray as the jailor's character in Bollywood blockbuster movie Sholay.

Bhandari's article evoked angry response from Sena who burnt Bhandari's effigy at various places after which Shelar expressed determination to reply by burning Saamana which is Shiv Sena's mouthpiece.

Shelar's statement also evoked angry reactions from Sena which burnt Shelar's effigy and many Shiv Sainiks and local leaders, including Mumbai spokesperson Kishori Pednekar, referred to Shah as Gabbar Singh and Bhandari as Rajpal Yadav, the comedian in Bollywood films. After this war of words and burning of effigies figured in national media, especially in English papers and TV channels, Shah took a serious note of the same on Tuesday.
