70% assessment work complete: University of Mumbai officials

After the unprecedented delay in results during the summer semester, students of the University of Mumbai can finally heave a sigh of relief as the varsity claims to have completed close to 70% of the assessment work.

According to figures revealed by MU officials, 9,50,116 of the total 13,79,000 answer sheets of various courses have already been evaluated by Monday. While the varsity has already declared results of 100 courses , officials said results of a few more courses, including some important ones like BSc and BA, are expected to be out this week.

“We only have close to 4 lakh answer sheets yet to be assessed across streams. By the end of this week, we are hoping to declare results of Bsc and BA, which have a large number of students. The remaining results will also be out within 45 days after commencement of the respective exams,” said Dr Arjun Ghatule, in-charge Director, Board of Examinations and Evaluation.

After the results mess that followed post the introduction of the onscreen marking system during the summer semester, Ghatule said the varsity was leaving no stone unturned to ensure that delays of all kinds are avoided. 

“We are working at a very micro level on this. At every stage, we are monitoring evaluation very closely. While the glitches in the system were addressed at a much earlier stage this year, we were also successful in addressing issues with respect to teacher tagging and other issues at the Centralised Assessment Process (CAP) Centres,” said Ghatule.
