The Nagpada police on Sunday arrested a man and two of his associates for allegedly stalking a 28-year-old wife of a senior bank executive. In an audacious move, the trio had barged into the victim's residence at untimely hours when she was with her husband and had also threatened them against approaching the police.
Those arrested were Shrikant Shewale, Prashant Shriram and Rajesh Bundi.
According to the police, the complainant stays in Nagpada with her husband, who works as a deputy manager in a private bank. As per the complainant, every morning she would leave from home at around 8:30 am to drop her daughter to school.
From December 11 onward, a man, later identified as Shewale, began following her and later tried to strike a conversation with her and asked for her mobile number, which victim refused to share. On December 15, when the man again followed the victim, she warned she would complain to the police against him.
"On Saturday night, when the victim was at home, a doorbell rang. On opening the door, she found the man who used to follow her standing in front of her. The victim called her husband after which two more persons barged into the house. The trio then manhandled the victim's husband, who warned them to stop following his wife. The trio assaulted the man and left after warning them not to approach the police," said a police officer.
The harassed victim registered a complaint after which the police nabbed the trio from Behram Naka in Nagpada area.
The arrested trio was booked on charges of assault, house trespass, stalking, criminal intimidation and common intention. The trio was later granted bail by a local court.
