The admission process this year started from February, which is much earlier compared to last year. Most schools began in June.Looking at the education department's lack adaisical attitude some parents approached the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR).

In Tuesday's hearing, commission secretary AN Tripathi asked officials of deputy director of school education and BMC's education department to file a reply within seven days so that the order can be passed and children, under RTE, can start attending school. In a hearing, Tripathi said that the reason why the 25% quota has not been filled is because many schools have minority status and thus the on us falls on the remaining few schools.
