A 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping off his 17th floor residence in Kandivali West. According to the Charkop police, the deceased, Anmol Chandan, a post graduate student, suspected his wife of having an affair with another man. According to the police, his wife started living with her parents since November as the duo constantly fought and also because Chandan was a habitual drinker.

According to the police, his wife started living with her parents since November as the duo constantly fought and also because Chandan was a habitual drinker.
The deceased sent a message to his mother minutes before committing the suicide in which he mentioned that his wife has always cheated on him. He lived on a rented flat at 19th floor in Saparsh Tower, Sahkari Grihnirman Sanstha building number 55, Ekta Nagar area in Mhada, Charkop at Kandivli (west). Chandan was earlier living with his parents in Lokhandwala.
R Gaikwad, senior PI of Charkop police said, "The duo got married six months back. His parents were against the marriage as she was from a different caste. However, they later agreed. They initially lived together with Chandan's parents and later shifted to Charkop in a rented accommodation."
At around 7 am on Sunday, his sent the message to his mother and jumped off the building. The watchman of the building heard a thud and then informed the others. Although he was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead before admission.
"Investigations have revealed that the couple used to fight a lot and that Chandan used to assault the woman under the influence of alcohol, following which she moved out of the house. We are checking his phone records for further details," said an officer.
The Charkop police have registered a case of accidental death and are in the process of recording statements from his mother and wife.
