10-yr-old girl molested by Kandivli laundryman

In a shocking incident, a ten-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a laundryman at her plush residence in Kandivli after he entered the flat under the pretext of collecting clothes for washing. The girl's parents reported the incident to the police, leading to the 20-year-old youth's arrest.

The girl was allegedly touched inappropriately by the accused, who works as a local laundry man at MG road in Kandivli.

"After receiving the complaint, we sent a team to arrest the accused as the parents alleged that the youth molested their daughter on the pretext of collecting clothes for washing and ironing," said a Kandivli officer.

"We have arrested the accused under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 (A) (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act," said Mukund Pawar, Senior Inspector, Kandivli police station.

"The accused has been remanded into police custody up to November 15. We will be conducting further investigations. We have taken recorded statements given by the minor's parents, and the accused regarding the incident," said Pawar.
