What is the plan for redevelopment of Sassoon Docks?

The plan for Sassoon Docks includes a new sewerage system, sewage and effluent treatment plant, cold storage units and revamp of the auction halls. The state and central government have joined together and appointed a committee under my chairmanship. The big works will start in another two to three months with several sub-projects. What is essentially required will be completed in a year with another six months being taken for further development.

What is on the cards for Bhau Cha Dhakka?

Bhau Cha Dhakka is a completely different ball game. In two to three months you will see a new waterfront in Princess Docks near Bhau Cha Dhakka. There will be three beautiful things there — a domestic cruise terminal, a Ro-Ro passenger terminal for ships from Bhau Cha Dhakka to Mandwa and a marina. The marina works should start in four to five months and the first two should be completed (by then). The Ro-Ro terminal including that at Mandwa (which is being built by the Maharashtra Maritime Board) will cost around Rs 200 crore and the domestic cruise terminal will cost Rs 10 crore in the beginning and after the acquisition plan, it will be a Rs 50 crore project.

The plan to shift the fish jetty is a different one which is still in the conceptual stage.
