Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group, in partnership with Cisco Jasper, has announced the launch of a new venture Unlimit to provide enterprises with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.

“We are the first company to come up with this technology,” said Alok Srivastava, president – Group IT & Innovation, Reliance Group. The other close competitors being all the telecom service providers, who sell data cards for various services like internet dongle or data only devices used by taxi aggregators.
“We have tied up with two companies – Zicom and Trimax,” shared Juergen Hase, chief executive officer of Unlimit. As part of the launch strategy and enterprise partners, these two companies are into (Zicom) electronic security solutions and (Trimax) IT services, data centre, cloud services, hand held ticketing machines, etc.
Presently, the company is looking to market it’s product only in four segments, namely, healthcare, original equipment manufacturers, auto mobiles and transportation.
“The outlook for IoT services in India is virtually unlimited, with the number of connected devices projected to rise from 200 million today to around 3 billion by 2020, and revenues set to increase from $5.6 billion today to $15 billion in 2020. Nearly every sector will be positively impacted by IoT and the Indian manufacturing industry is already beginning to reap its benefits,” said Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, group managing director of Reliance Group.
With plans to have 100 smart cities in India, the company expects it to be an appropriate time to enter the IoT market.
After Reliance Group, the other likely entrant is Tata Group.
