German carmaker Volkswagen sold 4,029 units in July compared to 3,409 units sold in the same period last year, up 18.18%.

The company attributed the rise in sales to "growing trust in the brand" and the launch of the new Vento.

The Volkswagen Polo is the only hatchback in India in its segment that had passed the Global New Car Assessment Programme crash test conducted in 2014. It passed with a 4-star rating for adult passengers, indicating its high level of safety in case of an accident.

Commenting on the company's July performance, Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India said, "With a slew of exciting made-for-India products lined for the next two years and backed by an impressive sales performance for the sixth consecutive month, we are confident of further strengthening our position in the Indian market over the coming months.”
