Realty firm Unitech on Friday said it has joined hands with e-commerce major Snapdeal to sell plots in its 240-acre township at Chennai.

Wave group's realty arm Wave Infratech also said that its properties would be soon available for sale on Snapdeal and Housing.com.

Real estate sector has been facing a huge slowdown in demand for the last few years, resulting in significant delays of up to 7-8 years in delivery of projects.

With online business in India, many real estate companies, including country's biggest developer DLF and Tata Housing, have started listing their properties on platforms like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Housing.com and 99 acres.com.

The developers are generally offering discounts on these e-commerce portals and they have received decent response.

Gurgaon-based Unitech said its plots in 'Aspen Greens' project, part of 240-acre township, would be listed on Snapdeal from tomorrow. The company has fixed Rs 11,000 as the booking amount.

"The idea behind collaborating with an online marketplace portal like Snapdeal is to not only reach a wider audience but also to make real estate purchase a simple and smooth affair for our customers," Unitech Head-Marketing Praveer Shrivastava said.

Unitech's Sr Vice President-Business Development Jaideep Singh said the company has sold 1,700 homes in this township and about 300 families are already residing.

"We wanted to offer a product which is ready for possession and has a good market pull in Chennai," Singh said.

Meanwhile, Wave Infratech said in a statement that it will soon offer selected products of its two projects 'Wave City Center' and 'Wave City' on Snapdeal.com and Housing.com.

Earlier, Tata Housing had tied up with Google, Snapdeal, and Housing.com, while Puravankara had tied up with Google and realty portal 99 acres.com. Godrej Properties, too, had tied up with Snapdeal to offer online booking of its projects.

Many developers are currently participating in 10-day online property sales, which started on July 18, organised by realty portal Magicbricks.com and Google.
