Senior bureaucrat Nilimesh Baruah was today given three-month extension, till August, as chief of Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).

Baruah, a 1985-batch officer of Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax cadre), was appointed to the post in April 2012.

The competent authority has approved extension in tenure of Baruah, Director SFIO for a further period of three months beyond May 30, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.

The SFIO is a multi-disciplinary organisation under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for detecting, prosecuting or recommending prosecution for white-collar crimes or frauds.
