Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today congratulated top police officials over a US consulting firm reportedly rating Hyderabad as best in the country in quality of living with a low crime rate.

Rao congratulated DGP Anurag Sharma and city police commissioner Mahender Reddy for the firm Mercer ranking Hyderabad as best in the country in terms of living standards, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.

The New York-based firm, in its annual worldwide ranking for the year 2016, ranked Hyderabad as the best city in the country, it said.

Various parameters considered by the firm include low crime rate, low air pollution and better choice of educational institutions, the release said.

Rao said the ranking is a testimony to the impact created by the Hyderabad city police in the areas of public safety and security, it added.
