Cosmo Films invests Rs 200 cr for expansion in Gujarat unit

Cosmo Films, a manufacturer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, today said it has installed new line to increase annual capacity by 40 per cent to 1.96 lakh MT at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore at its Gujarat facility.

Our BOPP films are used in for packaging, lamination and labelling applications. With the installation of 10.4 metre BOPP line, the company will increase its annual capacity by 40 per cent, taking it to 1.96 lakh MT from the current 1.36 lakh MT, a company statement said.

Pankaj Poddar, CEO, Cosmo Films Ltd said, "we have installed the line ahead of its schedule and well within the projected capex of Rs 200 crore. The high speed line equipped with automated changeovers and automatic consumption of waste will not only lead to an increase in power savings but also help the company with its overall operational efficiencies." The new line whose announcement was made in October 2015 has been commissioned ahead of its schedule and has been installed at company's existing facility at Karjan, near Vadodara in Gujarat, which already houses BOPP lines, it added.
