Cardamom futures fell 0.51 per cent to Rs 1,440 per kg today as speculators cut down their bets amid muted physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing regions also fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March month declined by Rs 7.40, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 1,440 per kg in a business turnover of 96 lots.

The spice for delivery in April month was down by Rs 5.30, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 1,449.80 per kg with a trading volume of 23 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants owing to a weak trend at spot market on subdued demand mainly put pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
