Why rose gold hair works for Indians

Rose gold colour has been trending for the past one or two years. From smartphones to accessories and even hair, the colour has been much in demand. Stars such as Emma Roberts, Ella Fanning, and Sienna Miller have been spotted in the past with this shade. But while the pinkish metallic shade is beautiful, it hasn’t caught on in India. After Hrs finds out if it works for Indians.

Ridhima Arora, Educator and Style director, Hakim’s Aalim Hair n Tattoo lounge says while at the moment rose gold hair hasn’t picked up here, there have been a couple of enquiries. “Rose gold as a colour goes well with dusky skin. So I personally think it’s a great shade that complements the Indian skin tone. Before going for it though, one needs to keep in mind if it goes with one’s personality as it can be a little loud. One also needs to keep in mind the person’s profession and lifestyle as this colour requires a lot of maintenance and can wash off easily.” she says.

There are lots of different shades of rose gold that one can choose from. “Ideally one should get a global colour with broken highlights. Keep in mind that you must use a colour protect shampoo post treatment and will need to do a colour refreshment every 10-12 washes,” says Ridhima, adding that currently blue and turquoise green shades are in demand.

Clients also want broken highlights in shades of lavender, grey, caramel or honey. “Very often clients get inspired by actors and want the exact same colour. While references are nice, one needs to understand your personality, lifestyle and skin tone before opting to copy someone,” she says.
